Second Skin

Second skin (or Saniderm) is a medical grade, clear adhesive that tattooists can use on the client to keep the area clean of dirt and bacteria. Second skin is a safe methond that helps promote faster healing for your tattoo. After 24- 48 hours, gently remove the adhesive with warm, soapy (unscented and mild) water; then pat dry with paper towel and leave to air dry for 10 minutes.

Once the tattoo and area around the tattoo are clean and dry, remove one side of the backing paper on the new piece of second skin. Place the second skin over the tattoo, smooth the adhesive and then remove the last layer of backing paper. Second skin can be worn up to 5 days.

TRaditional

Leave the bandage on for a minimum of 3 hours (no more than 12). Wash tattoo gently with warm water and mild, scent free soap. Rinse with cold water and carefully pat dry with paper towel and allow to dry for 10 minutes. Apply a small amount of recommended aftercare. If stinging, redness or swelling occurs, wash and wait 24 HOURS before re-applying. Do not smother with ointment; tattoo should have a slight, satin shine. Repeat 3- 4 times a day for 3- 7 days. After a few days your tattoo will begin to peel like a sunburn (DO NOT pick at it). Stop using the ointment and use an unscented lotion 3 times daily until your skin no longer feels dry to the touch.

  • Do NOT pick at peeling skin or scabs
  • Do NOT swim, go in a hot tub or soak in bath for a minimum of 3 weeks
  • Do NOT tan or expose to direct sunlight (using sunscreen is highly recommended even after the tattoo is healed
